The main reason I decided to pay the premium, the best part of £80, was the fact it was an Apple product - a brand I was familiar with and so far had not let me down.
Unfortunately this drive is very temperamental, sometimes I have to load a CD into the drive multiple times before it works at all. Sometimes it takes 2 hours to import a single CD and even this is not done correctly as only 30 seconds of the CD gets imported.Apple has moved away from built-in drives and my Macbook pro is amazing.

However as apple moves away from USB slots ect., and we have to buy these add ons I expect them to at least work. My confidence in the brand and the products has been severely knocked and its hard to to feel cheated out of so much money.I was lured in by the brand and the attractive design but thats all this have to offer, my advice would be to buy a cheaper drive that actually works and spend the rest of the money saved on more CD's!

When converting CDs to add them to my iTunes library, it would randomly spit out the CD and fail to read it (even discs with no marks or blemishes) then cause iTunes to crash. At first I thought it was my install of macOS and iTunes, so I did a full system reinstall, but the issue prevailed again after a few minutes of use. So it seems that not are there only software issues, it also damages discs by leaving a scratch near the centre hole, so be careful if you do buy this.I've now moved to an alternative brand external disc drive which is working perfectly and reading all discs.Unfortunately this product is very much 'form over function' - it looks great but it doesn't perform up to the users requirements.Final verdict: do not purchase More (Read full review).Written by Connor L from Wolverhampton.9 May 201910 of 10 people found this useful.

Don’t buy this product, you are just paying for the name no value or reasonable functionality from this product, shameful that Apple haven’t addressed the issues raised.

All NTSC format. I also print my own movies in NTSC format. However, it doesn’t seem to read a dual layer disk. So a very long movie may only play the first layer. If the movie is on two disks. It’s rare movies are so long to require a dual layer disk More (Read full answer).
